Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment

In 2014, the Honourable Dr. Jean Augustine established the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, with the aim of providing accessible, empowering programs to girls and young women ages 7 to 17. Today, the Centre has helped over 2,000 girls and young women build the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

Located at 101 Portland Street in Etobicoke, the Jean Augustine Centre offers free and subsidized after-school programs, workshops, camps, and events for girls and young women ages 7 to 17, emphasizing academics, STEM, life skills, arts, leadership, civic engagement, and movement.

Its mission is to build the self-esteem, and self-worth of girls and young women by positively influencing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons, and helping them to empower themselves.

In recognition of its work in the community, the Centre was a recipient of the GEM of Etobicoke-Lakeshore Award in 2024 by Member of Parliament, James Maloney.
